Week 3- going green :)

I really do not know much about these topics but I do know a little bit.

I have heard the term "going green" referring to people trying to use resources like water and electricity and keeping in mind the environment when they use them.

I know that the United States uses the most oil out of anyone because we use it for many different things such as cars, other ways of transportation and also machinery.

Coal is used to power things like heaters and is used to make iron and steel.

I really don't know much about nuclear power other then it is a source of electricity.

Hydrogen fuel converts water into energy and is used to power hydrogen cell cars.

 Energy efficiency is using less energy to provide the same level of energy like using solar panels for electricity or putting in house insulation to keep your house warmer with out having to turn on heaters.

2. What are renewable and nonrenewable resources?

A:  Renewable energy is energy generated from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat, which are renewable (naturally replenished).

Nonrenewable resource is  an energy source that is replenished very slow or is not replenished at all by a natural process.



3. An elevator must lift 1000 kg a distance of 100 m at a velocity of 4 m/s. What is the average power the elevator exerts during this trip?

A:    3.9×104 Watts or 39 kW.
